"Божествена комедия" е театрална трилогия, която Ромео Кастелучи представя на фестивала в Авиньон през 2008 г. Inferno, Purgatorio и Paradiso са три различни творби, отдалечени една от друга и признати по целия свят. За Кастелучи пренасянето на "Божествена комедия" на Данте в театрална среда е начин да отрази текста в неговата собствена зрелищна природа, като улови визуалното, слуховото и обонятелното измерение на Дантевите перипетии.

Изследването на Кастелучи се върти около понятието за хоризонт: докато трагедията се занимава с неговите граници, комедията дори не го забелязва. Божествена комедия на Данте е един от най-важните текстове на западната цивилизация и е един от стълбовете на европейската идентичност още от Средновековието. Нейното историческо и символично значение тежи върху творчеството на Кастелучи, който създава калейдоскоп от визии чрез събуждане на емоции, които винаги са напрегнати и отворени от много страни.
