Open calls

CCA "Toplocentrala":

·       works to improve the quality of cultural life in the capital

·       stimulates the development of freelance artists and their audiences

·       builds the full opening of Bulgarian contemporary art and culture to the international scene

·       develops various forms of contemporary art, education and culture

·       seeks to support and build communities

Key to the mission of the CCA "Topocentral" is interaction with the free creative scene. In order to provide greater support to freelance artists, part of the cultural institute's program is created on the basis of open calls to present finished productions and to co-produce cultural events.

Proposals for the open calls are reviewed and approved according to the capacity of CCA “Toplocentrala” and the planned program of the Centre.

All applications received are discussed by Toplocentrala’s programming team and approved by the Director of the Cultural Institute.

Additional experts are brought in to review and evaluate applications for some of the open calls.

The open calls for finished productions and co-productions in the field of performing arts and music will be reviewed by the programming team of CCA "Topocentral" and the additional experts for 2022 - Alexander Evtimov - Shamancheto, Gergana Dimitrova and Stefan A. Shterev.

The open calls for co-productions in the field of visual arts will be reviewed by the programming team of CCA "Toplocentrala" and the additional experts for 2022 - Victoria Draganova and Katya Angelova.

The open calls for collaboration in the field of visual arts will be reviewed by Toplocentrala’s programming team.

The guiding criteria for the approval of the projects are high artistic value, knowledge of contemporary processes in the arts and professional standards of presentation of the projects, as well as their innovation, relevance, originality and communication with the audience.

Projects should be consistent with the mission and goals of CCA “Toplocentrala”.
