4. Bulgarian Dance Platform//17. ANTISTATIC: Oratoria

"Oratoria" is a contemporary performance that creates a neo-dramaturgy consisting of music articulations based on a variety of genres ranging from opera to trash and hardcore, by using only the intonation and sound extraction. It choreographs a contemporary dance from the gestures we use while speaking. The project traces human verbal development solely through the nonrational, automatic and affective aspects of speech - intonation (music) and gesture (dance). Thus Oratoria “reconstructs” a universal “authentic” protolanguage that everyone can understand, and opens up a space for research into the causes and the functions of speech as a human phenomenon. Oratoria reflects on language by depriving itself from construction and meaning. When we know what we are saying, words are unnecessary.

Anna Dankova is a freelance author and director. In her work, she explores border performative practices, originating from different art forms. She has a MA in Journalism, has studied Film and TV Directing, in 2002 she graduated MA in Directing for Drama Theatre in the class of the eminent theater director Leon Daniel. She also has 20 years of experience in psychodrama. Some of her independent  performances are: “TAXITA” (2007); “COSMONAUT” (2013); “Golem” (2016); “Ada Lovelace”(2019); “Oratotia“ (2023).

The international program of Antistatic Festival for Contemporary Dance and Performance is organized is organized by the "Brain Store Project" foundation and the "Nomad Dance Academy Bulgaria" association, with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture, Goethe-Institut Bulgarien,  Sofia Municipality - Calendar of Cultural Events, National Culture Fund, programme “Creative Europe”, SEEDS - South-East European Dance Stations project - co-funded by the “Creative Europe” Programme of the European Union, and in partnership with RCSI "Toplocentrala", "Derrida" Stage, National Gallery “Kvadrat 500” and Club “DOM”.
