D/Strauss Technique

Ivo Dimchev

A project of Wiener Festwochen / Free Republic of Vienna

“Di/Strauss Technique” is a music and dance course to strengthen the spirit, vocal abilities, agility and desire in the audience. Using melodies from the king of the waltz Johann Strauss as a basis, Dimchev creates 10 healing songs and choreographies, relating to different aspects of desire and the psycho-physical health of the ordinary citizen. An assembly of frivolity. An explanation in love for everything human.

Ivo Dimchev is a director, choreographer, visual artist, singer, songwriter and LGBTQ activist from Bulgaria. His works are a radical and colorful mix of performance, dance, theater, music, visual arts. He is the author of more than 40 performances and is the winner of numerous international awards for dance and theater. He is also the author of more than 100 songs, collected in his book “Songbook”. His work has been presented in many places in Europe, North and South America and Asia.
