THE RIGHT TO CULTURE LAB FORUM

Ideas Factory Association, Bulgaria

forum

The Ideas Factory team and partners are thrilled to invite you to the first of its kind “Right to culture Lab ” in Bulgaria on the 24th and 25th of November. The  international forum is an appeal for urgent democratization and decentralization of the public resources invested in culture: by connecting professionals, cultural managers, artists, cultural institutes, venues, audiences, policymakers, representatives of rural areas and local authorities in a colorful format of diverse interactions and interventions , we are aiming at building common understanding around the role of the access to culture in areas referred as “peripheries''.

From community work, participative practices, role and reflection of power-dynamics in arts and culture, we will be stretching the capacity of our guests trough mutual exchange of practices with main focus around the ways we connect: connecting contemporary culture to the rurality nowadays (with examples both from Bulgaria and abroad) ; Connecting generations and cultures through the role of artists as cultural mediators. Connecting public resources to areas of chronic underfunding: by offering a discussion space between artists and policymakers. The forum will also offer an opportunity for 24 artists that have been working in the Baba residence program in six villages in the Northwest of Bulgaria to showcase their works and engage the audience in variety of interactions, born out of their rural collaborations with the local residents.
