How to Sell Yourself to the West is a humorous exploration of the unique selling points, identity advantages, and strategies that help artists to become successful in the Western art market. Based on my experience, interviews with the curators of the art institutions, research in the art archives, and stories of artists from diverse countries, the project has been successfully presented in Berlin and Paris. Now it comes to Sofia to share with you:
1. How to become famous?
2. How to receive an award?
...or at least after your death how to land the eternal art archive?
You can expect a lot of sincerity and laughter, which tells the truth...
The project was born in 2020 at the residency of the Young Academy of the Akademie der Künste in Berlin. The German premiere took place at the Radar Ost festival in 2021 at the Deutsches Theater Berlin. The Paris edition was created at the residency of Cité internationale des arts with support of Institut français and presented at the Maison d’artiste et de production Cromot in 2024.
