Critical Mass is a show where four performers face a critical problem: suspended in mid-air, they must simultaneously keep their table from falling and dine from it.
How do we negotiate our need for togetherness? Holding the table for others is awkward, but necessary if you want to benefit from it too. To hang alone, unencumbered by gravity, sounds like freedom, but soon proves useless without a fulcrum from which to push off. Come experience our performers' dinner as they balance between risk and freedom, shared and private, weightlessness and flight.
The performance is the directorial debut of Silvia Cherneva, freelance artist and co-founder of Room Temperature Association. Silvia works as a performer, choreographer, documentary filmmaker and dance filmmaker, drawing inspiration from everyday and mundane things and exploring ideas of collectivity, empathy and shared space.
The project is a coproduced by Room Temperature Association and Toplocentrala Center for Contemporary Arts and is realised with the financial support of the National Culture Fund, Debuts Programme, and courtesy of Hod Movement Lab, Profixt Training Centre and Mr. Bricolage Bulgaria.
