FOUND THINGS by Anastasia Stoeva | Book premiere and poetry performance
"Scribens" Publishing House invites you to the premiere of Anastasia Stoeva’s new poetry book, "Found Things".
In “Found Things,” there are statues of headless donkeys and disappointed parents. There are cellophane swans. There are allergies and diagnoses. There’s a pile of cards. There are at least two or three cats. This is a portrait of the human being as a collection of objects, filled with loved ones and memories like a junk dealer’s house. It is also a game. During the presentation, you can expect the unexpected in the form of a performance with interactive elements and a special appearance by the book’s editor, Stefan Ivanov.
About the book:
“An inventory of things no one has ever looked for. A shard of glass from a car crash, secretly tucked away in a pocket. A scattered deck of cards on the sidewalk. Stones collected on beaches so that the body doesn’t float to the surface of memory. The father’s jacket, which keeps turning up in hand-me-downs. Anastasia Stoeva has an ear for the small things. For children’s superstitions and the snails in the sandbox. About the cassette whose songs no one remembers anymore. She knows how to unlock something big. She reveals an entire childhood that is recognized in the hollows of death and in dreamt-of cities that ache because they don’t appear on any map. As the book’s author and illustrator, she has seen what she found twice over. Now it is the readers’ turn to discover the wealth of vivid imagery, humor, and beautiful courage.”
Stefan Ivanov
“Anastasia Stoeva has already taken her place in our literary landscape; she has made a name for herself with her candid writing and her courage to call things by their real names. And if, according to Rupchev, poetry is an ‘instinct for nonconformity,’ she is among the most nonconformist voices of her generation. *Found Things* spins us in a centrifuge of emotions that often begin in the personal and end in the social. It is a book stripped down to the very essence of the human being—a person who is confused but searching for paths to salvation. This is extroverted poetry; for her, sharing and feedback are vital. Ani is her poetry; she is on every page of the book—read it carefully, and you’ll find her!”
