“Night Butterflies” is the second part of the documentary trilogy (“Spiders”, “Night Butterflies”, “Ladybugs”) and focuses on the stories of women who provide sexual services.
The performance explores the tension between personal choice, morality and public attitudes. It raises questions about the place of sex workers in Bulgaria – between legal changes and enduring stigma, between visibility and exclusion.
Created with the verbatim technique of VOX POPULI, the performance uses authentic interviews, recreated verbatim by the actresses. The documentary story unfolds in a dynamic stage experience with original choreography, music and active audience participation.
The performance is realized with the financial support of the Culture Program of the Sofia City Council and the Ministry of Culture.
