THROUGH THEIR EYES

Lou Couton, France

dance solo

THROUGH THEIR EYES is devided in two parts - a solo and a series of interviews.

The solo delves into the intricate journey of womanhood.

This research explores how women's representations, and especially movies, have an influence on the construction of a woman’s identity.

The performer deals with the gaze of the audience but also plays with the notion of copying and molding the body based on societal representations.

Lou Couton invites the audience to question: Does acting only happen in movies?

This series of interviews was organised by @aboutlittlebeings as a platform for women to share their experiences, perspectives, and insights on what it means to be a woman.

By gathering the thoughts and perspectives of women from Canada, France, Spain, Israel, Italy, Bulgaria, Belgium, Croatia, Germany, Iceland and the USA, the aim of this series is to celebrate women and the way they view the world, but also foster understanding around the issues faced by women in our society.

@aboutlittlebeings is an ongoing interview project existing on Instagram, through the eyes of Lou Couton.

It was created in 2020, in the middle of the lockdown’s isolating environnement. During those times, physical distance intensified a fear of one another, creating an emotional gap between people. The need to bridge it inspired @aboutlittlebeings.

With a list of questions, Lou embarked on a journey of discovery driven by the curiosity to know the fears, hopes, dreams and thoughts of others.

@aboutlittlebeings expanded its scope, embracing diversity in all its forms. Interviews became portraits, capturing the essence of individuals from various ages, social classes, backgrounds, cultures, and genders.

Each portrait serves as a testament to the shared human experiences that bind us, fostering connection in a world that often keeps us apart.
