The performance is based on fundamental challenges for us that we found in three books: “Manifesto of the New Realism” by Maurizio Ferraris, “Theatre and its Double” by Antonin Artaud and “Realism” by Kerstin Stremmel. Some of them we didn’t even manage to read to the end.
At a time when all contemporary discussions are related to politics and identity, to the phenomenon of post-truth and the rise of populism, our team distances itself from these obsessive trends. At a time when everything is changing at a dizzying pace, the team deals with its own centrifugal forces and their external imprints.
The performance aims to inspire or destroy the intentions and roughness between the individual segments: choreography, dance, dramaturgy, direction, musical scores, presence, clothing, objects, light, shadows, songs, manifestos and all kinds of components and techniques that our team activates because it needs quotes, references, models. We produce to create a world that can be easily destroyed. Do we want that?
A poetic punk brutalism tempts the musicians from KAKE - Andrew Anderson, Martian Tabakov and Martin Penev, together with the artists - Galina Borisova, Elena Ivanova, Nevena Kaludova, to probe together the dissatisfaction with the surrounding environment, as unnecessary negativity, launching harmless protest proposals, without established slogans and manifestos. The six artists on stage perform spontaneous structured actions, without constant thought, without narrative, without imitations. We do not play roles, we are ourselves! We are interested in the virtues of certainty, pre-theoretical trust, the syndrome of suspicion, the wounds of modernism, the nihilism of postmodernism, conceptual suggestions, etc.
We like:
To omit
To view details as disturbing evidence
To emphasize things, but to doubt our positions
To seek all kinds of knowledge
To have a constructive character
To be poetic brutalism
To not be naturally crippled
To affirm the elusive
To be realistically prepared
“We deal with realism because it is real, with naturalism because it is natural, and with brutalism because it is monumental.” - Galina Borisova
