One of the brightest stars of contemporary jazz—Japanese trumpeter, composer, and producer Takuya Kuroda—will perform his first concert in Sofia!

Born in Kobe, Japan, and having made a name for himself on the New York scene, the musician successfully blurs the boundaries between jazz, funk, post-bop, hip-hop, and neo-soul, establishing himself as one of the most influential figures of the new generation.

The audience in Sofia will have the opportunity to hear live music from his latest, eighth studio album, "Everyday" (2025)—a project in which Kuroda reaches a new level in his pursuit of the perfect balance between modern production and organic live performance. At the heart of the album lies the groove—that vibrant rhythmic energy that transforms his concerts into an experience beyond traditional notions of jazz.

His distinctive, clear trumpet tone, combined with the use of a Rhodes piano and synthesizers, creates a soundscape where the influences of Herbie Hancock, Robert Glasper, and Thundercat converge—but always through Kuroda’s own artistic lens.

For more than two decades now, he has been building his career in the U.S. After studying at The New School in New York, he worked with groups such as DJ Premier’s Badder Band and Akoya Afrobeat, and recorded for prestigious labels like Blue Note and Concord. His name is invariably associated with the artists who have shaped the new face of the contemporary Black music scene.

Takuya Kuroda’s concert in Sofia promises to be one of the most significant encounters with the current global jazz scene in 2026—an event that will bring together the energy of the New York club sound, modern groove, and the uncompromising mastery of one of the most intriguing trumpeters of our time.

Seating is limited, so don’t wait—tomorrow, everything could be different.
