Unstable ground

Silvia Cherneva and Lyubov Zheglova

“Unstable Ground” is an interactive intervention in the urban environment with gently swaying boards that produce music when pressed, temporarily located in various places around the city. The installation emphasizes play and movement as a right and a need for everyone in the community and includes a dance performance, improvisation sessions, lectures, and workshops.

PROGRAM

June 13 and 29, 6 p.m., on the installation - Dance performance

The dance performance "Unstable Ground" follows the journey of three men through a turbulent and unstable world. Where does our need for stability come from? What can we replace it with when lack of control and unexpected interactions turn out to be the only constants? Directed by Silvia Cherneva and featuring the creative participation of performers Bratan Bratanov, Ivaylo Dimitrov, and Danny Kearns, the performance is developed on the principles of play and instant composition, based on a variety of movement techniques for connecting with the earth and with each other.

June 21, 6:00 p.m., Hall 4 - Lecture "Movement as an opportunity for play through the eyes of choreographers, artists, and architects"

In this lecture, we will examine various examples from the practice of choreographers, artists, and architects. These examples deal in one way or another with the creation of spaces that encourage movement as a form of play. From Simone Forti's dance constructions from the 1960s, through Isamu Noguchi's play landscapes and Aldo van Eyck's play spaces, to William Forsythe's choreographic objects and the technological placemaking projects of Daily tous les jours. The lecture will be led by Lyubov Zheglova.

June 22, 11:00 a.m., on the installation - movement workshops for children and adults with Lyubov Zheglova and Silvia Cherneva

5:00-6:00 p.m. Workshop for children and parents
6:00-7:00 p.m. Workshop for dancers and enthusiasts

Outside of the workshop schedule, the space will remain open for play and exploration without any specific performative focus for the entire duration of the installation.
