Warrior

Seduced by the belief that a fierce strong man is all we need to get things done and save the world, choreographer Anne-Maraike Hess takes us on her solo journey to become warriors. Within a distorted and at the same time soft soundscape, the deeply poetic image of human fragility and inner disorder emerges. A dancing body caught in a constant battle with its emotions.

Her solo WARRIOR premiered in late 2018. and is the first part of a series of works, followed by DREAMER (2021) and WEAVER (2023), which explore female identity, drawing inspiration from mythology and popular culture.
Constructed as an act of resistance, the piece draws its energy from the depths of the choreographer's soul, revealing and questioning the world in which we live.Through the metamorphosis of the body and the emotional power of the warrior figure, Anne-Maraike Hess celebrates femininity with strength.
