XXL

grotesque - a feast performance inspired by "Gargantua and Pantagruel" by François Rabelais, based on the author's texts and quotations from Rabelais and Bakhtin

While Bulgaria struggled to transition from one political system to another, in its streets, bars and clubs a generation was born and grew up, absorbing all the chaos surrounding it. A generation that grew up amid anxiety about the present, hatred for the past and hope for the future. A generation that eschews rigid definitions of itself, that is unable to deal with either its internal inconsistencies or the crumbling world around it, that cannot fit comfortably into objective reality. A generation that, it turns out, has no home.
"XXL" is the intersection of theater and party, spectacle and celebration. It is the fruit of the only language we know - a mixture of a thousand foreign influences, alcoholic deliriums and fears of the future.

"XXL" is an attempt to finally come clean, to face our fears, to express our dislike - even to ourselves.

"XXL" is our confession.

Be forewarned.
