Through the Lens of the Children of Nadejda

photo exhibition

Through the Lens of the Children of Nadejda is an exhibition intended to show the urban environment through the eyes of its youngest residents. What are they impressed by, where do they like to play, what disturbs them? In the urban planning process, we often fail to designate a space for the children, but this can have long-term consequences for their health. Every child needs a place to play, playgrounds, green areas. Those spaces are even fewer in the Nadejda district, with so many children living there.

In order to better understand how they see the world around them and make them active participants, the Doctors of the World association together with photographer Lina Krivoshieva from the Two Dogs, Two Cats studio organized photography workshops with over 50 children in Nadezhda in late September of 2022. Although many of them were holding an analogue camera for the first time, they quickly felt the magic of photography and managed to capture the neighbourhood in a way unseen before.

The exhibition is organized by the Doctors of the World association, the Two Dogs, Two Cats studio and CCA Topocentrala, with the support of the Embassy of the Netherlands in Bulgaria.
