Vulnerability is a process-based exhibition that explores intimacy as a bodily and collective condition. Rather than telling a story or offering symbols to decode, the project creates a situation in which bodies exist together — without roles, without protection, and without predefined meaning.
The exhibition unfolds over time and includes a video installation, a live performance, and parallel formats engaging with the theme. It is not a fixed object, but an accumulating process — of presence, traces, and voices.
On the opening day, the gallery space is activated through video portraits of two participants. Their bodies appear in minimal movement — close, attentive, almost still. The camera does not seek action, but presence. The portraits do not construct characters; they allow bodies to remain visible as they are.
During the opening, the participants blend into the audience as ordinary visitors. One by one, they undress to their underwear and lie on top of each other, forming a temporary human object — an accumulation of bodies, skin, weight, and breath. The action avoids theatricality or gesture, following instead the natural logic of touch and the time bodies need to find their place in relation to one another.
The performance is documented, and on the following day the video becomes a central element of the installation. Live action transforms into image, and image into memory.
Throughout the exhibition, visitors are invited to leave written words reflecting their personal understanding of vulnerability, as well as to record their voices in a designated space within the gallery.
On the final day, these voices are played back in the space, layered over the video of bodily accumulation. Vulnerability no longer belongs to a single body, but unfolds as a collective resonance — without face, without image, without ownership.
The project also includes a seminar, developed and led together with psychologist Elitsa Velikova, with whom the artist has been working long-term on the topic of vulnerability. The seminar takes place during the penultimate days of the exhibition and focuses on vulnerability as a bodily, emotional, and relational experience.
Vulnerability does not offer answers.
It creates the conditions for intimacy to occur.
