Sofia, Bulgaria – Dervish in Progress (DIP), founded by the innovative Ziya Azazi, is thrilled to offer an advanced Master Class workshop from June 2nd to June 4th at ToploCentrala, Sofia, Bulgaria. This workshop is tailored for those who have a basic understanding of DIP whirling and wish to deepen their practice. This master class includes practices from following 3 classes and will be blended together seamlessly.

• Dervish Tango: Experience the harmonious blend of whirling and partner dances in our 'Dervish Tango' class. This session emphasizes fluidity and grace, exploring the intricate balance between leading and following, giving and receiving, and the interplay of masculinity and femininity. It’s a dance of responsibility and surrender, where participants learn the delicate art of holding on and letting go, making it a profound experience of personal and partnered dynamics.
• Exploring the Skirts: ’Delving into the Skirts' offers a unique exploration into both the symbolic and practical use of skirts in DIP. In this class, participants learn to use the skirt as an instrument, an extension of the body that mirrors and expresses inner emotions and states through its flow and movement. This class not only enhances the visual and spiritual aspects of the performance but also equips dancers with techniques to integrate the movement of multiple skirts into their whirling practice, adding depth and character to their dance.
• Performing DIP: Focusing on the performance aspect of DIP, the 'Performing DIP' class combines technique with expressive storytelling. This class aims to captivate the audience with mesmerizing performances that convey deep emotions and narratives. Participants will cover various staging aspects, enhancing their creativity, emotional awareness, and performance skills. It’s an opportunity to transform technique into art, ensuring each performer can leave a lasting impression on their audience.

As the workshop progresses, these elements will intertwine, enhancing your understanding and proficiency in DIP. Our goal is for you to leave the workshop feeling elevated, having ascended to a new level in your whirling dance skills through a holistic and comprehensive learning experience.
