The exhibition includes the works of the students in the two main areas taught in the department - textile art and textile design.
Class of 2023 bachelors Alexandra Ivanova, Angela Vassileva, Bogdan Bogdanov, Gabriela Vu, Desislava Georgieva, Ivona Ivanova, Ioana Rangelova, Nikos Saridis, Raya Ivanova, Simona Manolova, Sofia- Margarita Andreeva completed the course of study under Prof. Dr. Adelina Popnedeleva.
Class of 2023 Master Emma Eftimova graduated under Assoc. Prof. Dr. Verzhinia Markarova.
In the presented works in the field of textile art, the range spans from mastering the traditional skills in the textile techniques of weaving, felting, and embroidery, to creating a personal space (an installation by Angela Vassileva), Sofia Margarita Andreeva's large-format abstract textile paintings in pleated technique and experimental searches for expression through material in the spirit of the Lausanne Biennale (Ioana Rangelova), to visual generalizations about the historical development of the structure of rhythmic repetition, characteristic of textile practices and executed in the technique of street art (Bogdan Bogdanov), as well as the development of the idea of transparency of weaving in space, demonstrated by Ivona Ivanova's installation.
Emma Eftimova is completing her MA in Textile Art with a weaving based on Terry Pratchett's quote "Every war in human history ends with exactly the same result: ravens - 1000 points, humans- 0 points".
In textile design, the students' choices range from textiles for interior space in their various functional applications (Desislava Georgieva, Gabriela Vu, Raya Ivanova, Simona Manolova), textiles for clothing ( Desislava Georgieva, Gabriela Vu), clothes and a house for stray animals (a utopian idea by Alexandra Ivanova) to curtains, which, although they could be seen and applied functionally, by their nature are close to conceptual art (Nikos Saridis).
